Anaheim, CA – The upcoming Creator Pickleball Tour at VidCon Anaheim 2026 is set to be more than a celebrity match; it marks a significant shift in the sports and entertainment industries. Scheduled for June 25-27, the event, led by Creator TV Sports, a division of Sabio Holdings, highlights a major change in sports media, with individual creators becoming influential media brands and entrepreneurs.

The inaugural 16-player tournament will be a centerpiece of VidCon, which anticipates over 55,000 attendees and more than 250 creators. Produced in partnership with Rob Ryan and Viewws, the competition will feature a roster of digital stars, including NichLmao (88.5M YouTube subscribers), Peet Montzingo (22.3M YouTube, 14.6M TikTok), Merrick Hanna (36.6M TikTok), and DangMattSmith (14.5M TikTok, 15.2M YouTube).

The event will take place on a new 'Sport Court' in the expanded Expo Hall. A key element of the three-day activation is the dedicated time on the second and third days for fans to directly participate and interact with the creators, offering a level of engagement that traditional spectator sports often lack.

This initiative is a core part of a larger strategy by Creator TV Sports to develop and distribute original competition programming. The company has previously found success with events like the Creator Poker Championship, which was broadcast on CBS Sports Network, and the World Chase Tag Championships.

Joe Ochoa, Co-Founder and General Manager of Creator TV, emphasized that the tour is designed as a multi-platform experience that can succeed both in-person and through streaming. This approach leverages Creator TV's extensive reach, with its Free Ad-supported Streaming Television (FAST) network alone available in 149.6 million households.

The tournament coincides with the rise of the 'athlete-creator' as a dominant force in media. The broader creator economy is projected to expand from $250 billion to $480 billion by 2027, fueled by a shift in audience behavior. According to industry analysis, fans are increasingly drawn to creators for sports content, valuing their authenticity and innovative storytelling over traditional media outlets.

This trend has not gone unnoticed by major sports leagues like the PGA Tour and Major League Baseball (MLB), which are now actively collaborating with creators, relaxing media guidelines, and investing in creator-led companies.

The professionalization of this new sports-entertainment hybrid is underscored by the involvement of Rob Ryan, known as the 'Influencer to the Influencers' for his deep experience in the creator economy. His expertise is crucial in structuring the tour for both commercial success and creator appeal.

The Creator Pickleball Tour exemplifies new monetization strategies that move beyond simple endorsements, incorporating integrated brand opportunities like custom paddles and branded court signage.

This evolution introduces new business and legal complexities. As creators transition into independent economic agents, they face the need for robust contractual agreements, intellectual property protection, and adherence to advertising regulations, such as Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines.

By featuring pickleball—a sport undergoing its own rapid growth—in a high-profile, creator-centric format, the tour at VidCon does more than just entertain. It helps legitimize the sport for a wider audience and highlights its potential for sports tourism. The event is a clear signal that creator-led sports tours are not a passing fad but a foundational change in how sports content is produced, consumed, and monetized, opening new pathways for fan engagement and economic growth in a transforming media landscape.
